Demand True Scientific Discourse from Wikipedia…

The number of suffering people who could benefit from the extraordinary healing and transformational benefits of Thought Field Therapy are being limited by a few biased skeptics who control what is said on Wikipedia about TFT and other innovative health care approaches. ACEP (the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology) has begun an initiative to bring true scientific discourse to these subjects, which is what Wikipedia’s readers expect. Please read the following and sign the petition:

From ACEP Headquarters:

ACEP has created a Change.org petition addressed to Wikipedia Founder, Jimmy Wales to end the negative bias against holistic approaches to healing and create and enforce new policies that allow for true scientific discourse. We are pledging not to donate to Wikipedia until this concern has been adequately addressed. To read details and sign the petition: http://chn.ge/Jgxtmf Please share far and wide!

Thank you for taking a stand for healing for all!

Overview of the petition:
Wikipedia is widely used and trusted. Unfortunately, much of the information related to holistic approaches to healing is biased, misleading, out-of-date, or just plain wrong. For five years, repeated efforts to correct this misinformation have been blocked and the Wikipedia organization has not addressed these issues. As a result, people who are interested in the benefits of Energy Medicine, Energy Psychology, and specific approaches such as the Emotional Freedom Techniques, Thought Field Therapy and the Tapas Acupressure Technique, turn to your pages, trust what they read, and do not pursue getting help from these approaches which research has, in fact, proven to be of great benefit to many. This has serious implications, as people continue to suffer with physical and emotional problems that might well be alleviated by these approaches.

Larry Sanger, co-founder of Wikipedia, left the organization due to concerns about its integrity. He stated: “In some fields and some topics, there are groups who ‘squat’ on articles and insist on making them reflect their own specific biases. There is no credible mechanism to approve versions of articles.”

This is exactly the case with the Wikipedia pages for Energy Psychology, Energy Medicine, acupuncture, etcetera, which are currently skewed to a negative, unscientific view of these approaches despite numerous rigorous studies in recent years demonstrating their effectiveness. These pages are controlled by a few self-appointed “skeptics” who serve as de facto censors for Wikipedia. They clothe their objections in the language of the narrowest possible understanding of science in order to inhibit open discussion of innovation in health care. As gatekeepers for the status quo, they refuse discourse with leading edge research scientists and clinicians or, for that matter, anyone with a different point of view. Fair-minded referees should be given the responsibility of monitoring these important areas.

I pledge not to donate to your fundraising efforts until these changes have been made.

Dr. Robson Presents Uganda Study Results

Dr. Howard Robson training Ugandan leaders in TFT
Dr. Howard Robson training Ugandan leaders in TFT, 2012

Phyll Robson, board member of TFT Foundation UKgave the following report on the presentation given by foundation chairman Howard Robson, M.D., at the 2013 ACEP conference:

Dr. Howard Robson was very pleased to be presenting the research results from the PTSD study undertaken in Uganda in January last year, 2012. He described the care taken to follow protocol to ensure the study undertaken on 256 participants would be valid.

The Research presentation session was well attended, and there were many questions from the floor about the study itself, and about the psychological and physical changes we witnessed in the study participants after treatment. The audience were very impressed to learn that only one treatment session was provided to each participant, by a newly trained Algorithm Ugandan Therapist, to achieve our results.

Roger Ludwig gave a moving account of the changes he observed in the study participants, followed by an overview of the many transformations we observed in the local people not included in the study, but who were treated by the TFT team, some of the Catechists trained in 2009, and some of the newly trained Catechists who were keen to practice their new TFT skills.

I talked about a group of women we had treated the previous day, who were very excited when we met them again at the training centre. They told us how they had been able to sleep all night for the first time in years. Many people in Uganda suffer Continue reading “Dr. Robson Presents Uganda Study Results”

TFT Studies in Rwanda and Uganda

I’m very pleased to report that a study conducted by the TFT Foundation in 2008 has been published in this month’s issue of International Journal of Emergency Mental Health.

Connolly, S., & Sakai, C. (2012). Brief trauma intervention with Rwandan genocide survivors, using Thought Field Therapy. International Journal of Emergency Mental Health, 13 (3), 161-172.

I’m also pleased to announce that the TFT Foundation has recently been awarded a $5,000 grant from ACEP (Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology) to be used towards research that the Foundation will be conducting in Uganda this June: Using Thought Field Therapy to Treat Victims of Violence in Uganda. Many thanks to ACEP–and to Suzanne Connolly, MFT, LCSW, who submitted the proposal for the grant.

The TFT Foundation’s mission to Uganda is in response to a request from Father Peter Mubunga Basaliza of the Catholic Diocese of Kasese for a TFT trauma relief team to train 36 community leaders in Kasese in TFT trauma symptom reduction techniques.

The grant money will assist the TFT Foundation as it joins with the U.K. TFT Foundation and the Mats Udal Humanitarian Foundation in an effort to conduct the study in conjunction with the requested training.

The objectives of the TFT Foundation’s mission to Uganda this June are:

  1. To continue developing and scientifically validating a model in which local community leaders can be trained to treat community members in the aftermath of large-scale disasters, especially in regions where trained professionals are scarce.
  2. To relieve the distress of those suffering from trauma and promote Post Traumatic Growth (PTG).

Please push here if you would like to donate towards these efforts.

Tapping for Humanity

The first issue of the TFT Foundation’s e-zine “Tapping for Humanity” is now available at http://www.tftfoundation.org/TFTFoundation-January-2012.pdf.

The periodical was formerly called the “ATFT UPdate” and was sponsored by the Association for Thought Field Therapy (ATFT). However, on September 30, 2011, ATFT formally merged with ACEP (Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology) and, as ATFT members had indicated that the “ATFT UPdate” was important to them, the TFT Foundation agreed to carry on its production, providing information, research, cases, and news regarding TFT around the world. The board of directors chose “Tapping for Humanity” as the e-zine’s new name.

Hope you like Tapping for Humanity! Your input is always appreciated.

By Gregory J. Nicosia, Ph.D., D.CEP
–President, Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology:

At this year’s ACEP Conference Dr Roger Callahan was presented with ACEP’s first LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD. As ACEP’s president, it was an honor to present this award to a man to whom we all collectively, and myself personally, owe so much. Every time we tap on this or that, we stand on his shoulders. In every field there is a first and Dr, Callahan was the first, the original, to devise and popularize a coherent meridian based tapping psychotherapeutic method. His basic methods have been copied, modified, abbreviated and expanded upon. Indeed imitation is the highest form of flattery. But in all the myriad evolutions of meridian based energy psychotherapies, his influence can be seen. Thank you Roger for all that you have done and continue to do. We at ACEP all look forward to working together with ATFT members in integrating TFT and other forms of energy psychology into healthcare and humanitarian efforts worldwide.
